The 42nd Copa del Rey MAPFRE de Vela has more than 120 registered teams

MADRID, 17 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The 42nd edition of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE de Vela, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Palma (RCNP) and which will be held from July 27 to August 3, closed the registration process on June 15 with 122 teams registered, according to a statement from the organization issued this Monday.

Thus, it exceeds the ceiling of 120 teams and shows its “strength” as a competition, which combines ORC for compensated time and real-time one-designs such as ClubSwan, J/70 and Blusail 24 for Women’s Cup. All this to make the Cup del Rey “one of the references for any shipowner and sailor in the world”, with an inscription that is already “a sure value” for the participants.

Last Saturday, June 15, the registration period for this 42nd edition closed with 122 boats registered, who have until Sunday, July 28 to complete the registration of their crews. Then, the organization will carry out the final records and measurements of sails and ratings, before training until the 29th on the Palma Bay regatta course.

On July 27, the traditional ribbon cutting of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE by the authorities and sponsors will take place, an event that will be the ‘exit signal’ for this 42nd edition. In addition, there will be three other social events, such as the shipowners’ dinner at the Castillo Hotel Son Vida (July 30), the white cocktail by MAPFRE (August 1) and, finally, the awards ceremony, chaired by the King Felipe VI, in Ses Voltes (August 3).

The 42nd Copa del Rey MAPFRE will be held from July 27 to August 3, organized by the RCNP by delegation of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV), with the sponsorship of MAPFRE and the institutional sponsorship of the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Palma City Council and the collaboration of the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands and the Balearic Sailing Federation.
