Real Madrid stands up to the stalking of Tenerife, Manresa, Joventut and Valencia

MADRID, 17 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Madrid recovered the joy of winning at the expense (90-65) of the Breogán River this Sunday in matchday 29 of the Endesa League, to cut back with the leader Barça and keep pressure from Lenovo Tenerife, BAXI Manresa, Joventut and Valencia Basket, one win away.

Pablo Laso’s men, who were coming off three defeats in domestic competition and another two in the Euroleague, took a step forward against a ‘Breo’ who, without Dzanan Musa, arrived at the WiZink Center with little faith. The white team began intimidating with Tavares and went into the break with a comfortable lead (53-29) and much more artillery than the rival.

Deck (15 points and a PIR of 25) was the great architect of the local cushion, a Madrid that ended up sentencing with a 24-16 in the third quarter. Nigel Williams-Goss and Abalde gave Laso good direction, who opened the door after the match to once again have Thomas Heurtel, who was sidelined last week, already thinking about the continental playoff against Maccabi.

Madrid, second (20-9), takes advantage of Barça’s defeat on Saturday in Zaragoza, to get two wins behind the lead. In addition, the whites cannot be careless with the high pace that comes from behind, since Joventut on Saturday and, this Sunday, Valencia Basket, Tenerife and Manresa, got to 19 wins.

The best streak is that of the Canaries, which continued with a resounding victory over Unicaja de Málaga (64-97). The people of Malaga suffered a severe setback in their attempt to feed their chance of being in the ‘playoffs’, in another great game by Shermadini (19 points and 9 rebounds). A tough 7-27 in the third quarter was the spark for aurinegro at the Martín Carpena.

In addition, Valencia took a merit victory at the Fernando Buesa Arena (71-78), against a Bitci Baskonia that closes the ‘Top 8’ with 16 wins. The game was up in the air, with initial dominance by the ‘taronja’ team, the local reaction and the final blow by the visitors with López-Arostegui. Hermannsson, Rivero and Dubljevic also gave a great performance in the hit on the table in Vitoria.

Meanwhile, BAXI Manresa also got 19th, a tight fight to be seeded in the crossovers for the title, against UCAM Murcia ninth. Pedro Martínez’s men commanded from the beginning, with Joe Thomasson (33 points), Maye (19), Bako (16 and 11 rebounds) and Moneke (13 and 10), despite the Murcians’ final attempt.

In addition, Gran Canaria came from behind against Surne Bilbao Basket (88-86) to see themselves in the ‘Top 8’ with 16 wins. Ennis and Shurna’s 16 points neutralized Goudelock’s 26.
