Álvaro Robles will look for a ticket to Paris in the pre-Olympic playoff

The Spanish Álvaro Robles lost this Saturday in the decisive match of the Individual Table Tennis Pre-Olympic, which is being held in Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), but he will still have the repechage route to be in the Paris 2024 Games.

Robles saw his great tournament stopped against the Polish Milosz Redzimski with a score of 1-4 (11-5, 5-11, 7-11, 9-11, 12-14). Despite this defeat, the Spaniard remained in the competition, following his participation in Stage 3, along with his compatriots Juan Pérez and Sofía-Xuan Zhang.

There, Pérez was defeated in his second match by the Slovakian Yang Wang with a score of 0-4 (8-11, 7-11, 5-11, 5-11). Meanwhile, Sofía-Xuan Zhang fell to Croatian Hana Arapovic with a result of 2-4 (11-8, 5-11, 7-11, 5-11, 12-10, 6-11) in the second round.

Finally, Robles beat the Italian Niagol Stoyanov 4-2 (11-5, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-6) in that second round and was left as the only Spanish option, which will be played this Sunday against the Moldovan Vladislav Ursu for a place in the semifinals.
