David Muñoz takes pole position in Moto3 and the leader Dani Holgado will start last

MADRID, 24 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider David Muñoz (KTM) has signed pole position, the first of his life, for the Moto3 race of the Grand Prix of the Netherlands, the eighth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, while the leader of the championship, Dani Holgado (KTM ), will start last after hitting the green on the last lap.

Surprisingly, the man from Sant Vicent del Raspeig, who commands the overall standings with 41 rental points over the second classified, Jaume Masià (Honda), had to go through Q1 and luck did not smile on him in that session either. He rushed his options to the end and saw how, with time up, his lap was cancelled, which condemned him, by time trial, to the last place on the grid.

At the opposite pole will be the Sevillian, who became the 52nd Spanish driver in history to get a pole position in the World Championship, all thanks to a great 1:41.181 with the clock to zero and after taking the wheel. He will be accompanied on the front row by the Australian Joel Kelso (CFMoto) and the Italian Riccardo Rossi (Honda), second and third respectively.

In the final Q2, it was Stefano Nepa (KTM) who set the first great reference time, soon beaten by the Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM), forced to compete in Q1 -he came third-. With just over three minutes to go, the Japanese Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) took first place.

All the drivers began to improve times in the final moments, with Muñoz rising above all to achieve the first pole position of his life, an award that allows him to partly forget the severe injury in Jerez.

Jaume Masià (Honda), who crashed at the last minute, will start eighth, while José Antonio Rueda (KTM) will do eleventh, David Salvador (KTM) fourteenth and Adrián Fernández (Honda) fifteenth. At the back of the grid will be Xavi Artigas (CFMoto), nineteenth; Iván Ortolá (KTM), twentieth; Ana Carrasco (KTM), twenty-sixth; and Holgado, twenty-seventh and last.
