Vinicius, the ‘Correcaminos’ of Mingueza

The Roadrunner, a character in an American short film series, is chased chapter after chapter through the desert roads by the Coyote. “Despite his many ingenious attempts,” says Wikipedia, the Coyote never manages to catch the Roadrunner.. Even the elaborate traps he uses to capture him end up turning against him. That is why the cartoonist ‘marselle‘(@yesnocse on Twitter) wanted to illustrate what happened in El Clásico between Óscar Mingueza and Vinicius Júnior, turning the Real Madrid player into the Road Runner and the Catalans’ youth squad into the Coyote. The FC Barcelona player ‘fell’ into the trap of Vinicius who, masterfully, left Mingueza nailed.

Óscar Mingueza dedicated himself to chasing shadows during the first Clásico played this season at the Camp Nou. More specifically, that of Vinicius Junior. In the 45 minutes that the culé defender was on the pitch –Ronald Koeman replaced him at half-time, giving entry to Philippe Coutinho–, the center-back had the complicated task of measuring himself against the winger of the Whites. In the defense of three center-backs with lanes that the Dutch coach had from the start, the youth squad fell to the right-hand side, just where the Brazilian was influencing again and again throughout the match. After one of those rides of the white ’20’, with Mingueza out of place, Real Madrid ended up making it 0-1 thanks to a great shot from outside the area by David Alaba.
