Villarreal seeks to settle in Europe against Celta

The Nuevo Mirandilla and the RCDE Stadium, with the redebut of Bordalás, host direct duels for salvation

MADRID, 29 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Villarreal seeks this Sunday to establish itself in its place in the Europa League against RC Celta (4:15 p.m.), in a thirty-second day of LaLiga Santander in which RCD Espanyol and the new Getafe led by José Bordalás face each other to try to get out of the relegation zone (6:30 p.m.) and Cádiz and Valencia, so as not to fall into it (2:00 p.m.).

At the Estadio de la Cerámica, Quique Setién’s men will try to continue last Thursday’s victory against the Espanyolistas (4-2), which allowed them to break a series of two defeats and, along with Real Betis’ draw against the Real Sociedad (0-0), rise to fifth position in the table.

Now, with 50 points, they lead the Verdiblancos by one (49) and Athletic Club by four (46), the first of the contenders to assault the continental positions. Gerard Moreno, Francis Coquelin and José Luis Morales will miss the appointment due to injury, while Kiko Femenía, Raúl Albiol and Samu Chukwueze are doubtful due to discomfort.

Opposite, the Galicians are also eager to confirm the improvement experienced during the week against Elche (1-0), a victory with which they left behind two straight defeats against Real Madrid and Mallorca and four dates without winning. Permanence is one step away.

His 39 points, however, still do not offer him the necessary peace of mind, with the danger positions eight below, so Carlos Carvalhal’s team will try to win again in a clash in which the only absences will be those of Agustín Marchesín and Oscar Mingueza.

For their part, Cádiz and Valencia will settle their needs in a duel at the Nuevo Mirandilla that could condemn the loser to the danger zone at the end of the day. Rubén Baraja’s men (33) have two rental points over the burning positions, while the Cadista team (32) marks salvation with only one advantage over Getafe, third from last.

The Valencians, who will not have Justin Kluivert or Marcos André at their disposal and who are keeping an eye on the state of Thierry Correia, Samu Castillejo and Fran Pérez, have managed to ward off the ghosts with two consecutive wins against Elche (0-2) and Real Valladolid (2-1), interrupting a streak of four games without knowing victory.

Sergio González’s team has not won for four games and has been unable to score a goal in any of his last three games, from which he has only rescued a draw. In addition, he arrives at the duel with the infirmary full due to the injuries to Fali, Roger Martí, Juan Cala, Joseba Zaldua, Jon Ander Garrido and Víctor Chust, although he recovers Gonzalo Escalante and Jorge Meré.

Finally, at the RCDE Stadium, Espanyol and Getafe, penultimate and third-bottom in the table, face a crucial and dramatic clash for salvation. The Catalans (28) have only gotten one point out of the last 24 in play, figures that have sunk them into penultimate place, four units from remaining.

The azulón team (31), with José Bordalás again in charge of the bench after the dismissal of Quique Sánchez Flores, is also mired in the dark zone, although in his case salvation is only one point away after five dates without achieving a triumph.

Edu Expósito and César Montes will not be available in the parakeet squad due to suspension, and Brian Oliván and José Gragera are doubtful. The new Getafense coach will not be able to count on the suspended Dakonam Djené and Juan Iglesias or the injured Mauro Arambarri, and he remains awaiting how the headdresses Luis Milla and Ángel Algobia evolve.
