The VAR intervenes to point out some controversial hands against Celta

It did not take long for the controversy to appear in the duel between Elche and Celta. The game had barely started when the VAR, led by Estrada Fernández, called the match referee, De Burgos Bengoetxea, to report potential Hugo Mallo hands in the area.

The Celta defender jumped to clear a cross into the Elche area, but on the rebound, after a carom, he ended up touching the ball with the lower part of his arm.

De Burgos Bengoetxea, who had not seen the action, went to the screen to judge the infraction, finally signaling a penalty transformed by Fidel.

With the rules in hand, he had to indicate the maximum penalty, however his decision raises – again – doubts about the regulations, which say that even if the hands are involuntary, they should be marked as an offense.

Hugo Mallo never wants to play the ball with his hand, but it is impossible to jump with opposition without using his arms. The Celta player did not see the ball, which hit his forearm after an unfortunate rebound.
