The Spanish Rubén Ruzafa hangs the bronze in the World triathlon cross

MADRID, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish triathlete Rubén Ruzafa has hung the bronze medal in the World Cross Triathlon, which was held this Sunday at the International Center for Sports Innovation El Anillo (Cáceres), an event in which the French Arthur Serrieres and the Swiss Loanne Duvoisin were proclaimed champions.

In the facility located between the Extremadura municipalities of Guijo de Granadilla and Zarza de Granadilla, the 36 participants in the men’s race had to face 1,000 meters of swimming, 21 kilometers of mountain biking and 6 kilometers of running.

On a muddy terrain to which he adapted easily on the bicycle and which allowed him to overcome a bad swimming stretch, Serrieres won his first world title by beating his compatriot and defending champion, Arthur Forissier, and Rubén Ruzafa from Malaga, who crossed the goal 13 seconds from the winner.

“I pushed a lot from start to finish. I tried to swim as fast as I could and gave my all on the bike, I think third is a great result for me. Different parts of the field suited us all differently, for what was always changing was very difficult, “said Ruzafa.

In the women’s elite event, the victory went to the Swiss Loanne Duvoisin, 2019 U23 world champion, who led a podium completed by the Italian Sandra Mairhofer and the Czech Aneta Grabmullerova.
