still kicking years after the Portuguese player left for the AS Monaco, after failing to have triumphed as rojiblanco in the capital of Spain.
The Sports Arbitration Court has given the reason to Benfica Football Club in his lawsuit against him Atlético de Madrid, according to the newspaper ‘A Bola’. The capital club, not to be confused with the Benfica, the most awarded team in the country, claimed the value related to the training rights of Gelson martins, that the club Lisbon understood that he had to receive, after the agreement between the colchoneros and the Sporting that settled the litigation that remained after his departure to the Spanish club.

Martins was one of the nine players who unilaterally terminated the contract with the Sporting, after the irruption of ultras in the Alcochete Academy in 2018 in which several footballers were even attacked. The Portuguese winger ended up signing for him Atlético de Madrid, first free, but then an agreement was reached with the Spanish club paying 22.5 million euros to ’Los Leones’, in a later negotiated deal.
To this are added some 200,000 euros (160 thousand euros from the solidarity mechanism, to which the interest is added), claimed by the Futebol Benfica, club where Gelson took his first steps in his career, between 2008 and 2011.
