Real Valladolid is already in contact to reinforce its squad

The sports director of Real Valladolid, Fran Sanchez, has confirmed that several players have already been contacted, such as Sergio Asenjo, Borja Sánchez or Sergio Escudero, with a view to reinforcing the squad that will play in the First Division next season, but he considers that “we must respect those who have achieved promotion and talk to each one so that they know what their situation is at the club”.

In a meeting with journalists, Sánchez has warned that many rumors are likely to come out and several representatives will assure that they have spoken with them to show interest in some players, but the main objective is to communicate to each player what is expected of him , if it counts to play in the First Division or not, “since the promotion has changed the situation of some who, if they had continued in the Second Division, might have accepted a reduction.

As he has warned, the players who arrive have to adjust to the needs of the team and the club and it will be sought that all of them have a feeling of belonging to it, regardless of where they were born, thinking that they are in the highest category and that the demands are greater.

This preseason trusts that “it will be different from the previous one, in which the first player was signed the last week of August”, because there are more players with a contract and, furthermore, since they are a “recently promoted”, to convince the players that they come to Real Valladolid “you have to offer differential values and explain the club’s project to them well”.

“We want this team to continue to make the public feel proud, and have fun watching them play, so our hope is to continue to be brave, compete with humility but with all the ambition, to keep the team in the top flight”, has indicated in statements to the media.

In this sense, Fran Sánchez has acknowledged that all possible scenarios had been considered, since in the case of having played the playoffs, it was necessary to manage it both in sporting and emotional terms” and he considers that it is necessary to value to all the people, players, club and fans since, when he arrived at the Sports Directorate he found people “very low in spirits” and, after working with the “responsibility of making people happy, seeing those tears of joy is something inexplicable”.

As for the subsidiary players, he clarified that none of them have a valid contract to play with the first team, but some were terminated or transferred and, like the others, they will be informed of what there is to make a decision, “although The club wants to be brave and bet on young people, players from the academy, always thinking that it is played in the highest category”.

In this sense, he commented that, if any of them were to go to the first team, “it is important not to demand them from the beginning, so as not to harm their professional and personal development”, and that work has already begun to “make a fit with all the players, young people who are betting on, and people with experience who are a reference for them”.

“The premise this year has been to win and win and, when you win, keep wanting to win. That is why we are excited about what may come and, in the meeting held yesterday with the board, the start of the preseason has already been established and various friendlies have been planned”, he advanced.

Focusing on those names that have been coming out these days, such as Rubén Escudero, he specified that he knows him well: “he is a player who has won the Europa League at Sevilla, who has been in the First Division with Granada, although unfortunately he has relegated and he’s a good professional”, but he prefers “I’m not going to talk about proper names, since several players have been contacted”.

Fran Sánchez recalled that in the First Division, Real Valladolid is going to have superior rivals and that is why we have to adjust to what is needed, be balanced in everything, and give continuity to the work carried out this year “so that people continue to feel proud, but they pay to have results and, therefore, you have to win”.

He has also assured that it is not yet known what budget there will be, since it also depends on those who leave, but work is being done to have the best tools and to make the best possible squad, taking into account that this past campaign it was decided “not to renew no contract, so that the players put the focus on the competition and focused exclusively on promotion”.

As for the goal, and that rumor about the possible arrival of Sergio Asenjo from Valladolid, he has indicated that “he has been in a club that reached the semi-finals of the Champions League – Villarreal – and whose career speaks for itself, but Roberto has contract, José Antonio Caro returns from his loan in Burgos and Jordi Masip, although his contract is now ending, has had a good season”.

“You have to see what is best for everyone and decide which is the best option and which is the most suitable profile for this new stage”, he added, in which it is “very difficult” for Gonzalo Plata to follow, since the option purchase “is not easy to approach” for the club, he concluded.
