Rosario Nadia Podoroska achieved a historic career victory today by beating Slovak Anna Schmiedlova 6-3 and 6-2, and advance to the round of 16 of the Grand Slam of Roland Garros, in France.
Podoroska, number 131 in the world ranking, will be with this victory within the first 100 players in the world.
The next objective of the Argentine player will be to get into the quarterfinals and will collide in the next instance at the winner of the duel between the Czech Krejcikova and the Bulgarian Pironkova.
This is the first time that an Argentine player has reached the Roland Garros round of 16 since 2011, when Gisela Dulko did it.
The Roland Garros Grand Slam is played on a brick dust surface and will distribute around 18 million euros in prizes.
