Alberto Ginés advances to the Shanghai Pre-Olympic final in second position

The Spanish climber Alberto Ginés has entered this Saturday in second position to the final of blocks and difficulty in the Pre-Olympic that is being held in Shanghai (China), penultimate event of the Olympic Qualifier Series on the way to the Paris Games, while Erik Noya and Leslie Romero have fallen in the round of 16 in their speed tournaments.

The current Olympic champion achieved a total score of 143.2, after adding 59.1 in blocks and 84.1 in difficulty, which allowed him to close the semifinals second in the overall calculation, only behind the South Korean Lee Dohyun, who achieved 147.7 points -59.6 in blocks and 88.1 in difficulty.

In this way, he advanced to the final, where eight climbers will compete. The Belgian Hannes Van Duysen (116.3), the Swiss Sascha Lehmann (113.3), the Czech Adam Ondra (110.9), the British Hamish McArthur (109.7) and the French Paul Jenft (109.5) and Sam Avezou (99.8) will also seek victory .

After the test in the Chinese event, the climbers will face the second of the Olympic series, which will be held in Budapest at the end of June. The top ten climbers in the combined event, limited to two per country, will be in Paris 2024.

For his part, in speed, Erik Noya narrowly lost in his round of 16 duel with the Chinese Xinshang Wang, a race in which he once again broke the Spanish record. The Galician stopped the clock at 5.20, improving the 5.23 of the qualifying phase that earned him the national record, but he could not beat the Asian’s 5.16.

In the women’s speed, Leslie Romero also lowered her qualifying mark, but her 7.10 did not allow her to surpass the Chinese Yafei Zhou, who did 6.88. Both Noya and Romero maintain their options to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games in Budapest.
