Pedri: “I hope Xavi reconsiders and stays for a long time”

“I didn’t imagine coming back like this in this game”

BARCELONA, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The FC Barcelona player Pedri was “very happy” to be playing again with the role he had this Wednesday in the victory (2-3) over Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. At the same time, he hoped that Xavi Hernández would continue to be his coach next season.

“We have always been with the coach to the death and as long as he is with us it will be yes, we hope it will be many days. He grew up at Barça and we try to defend the club as he did as a player. I hope he thinks again, Xavi, and is very much time,” he said in a mixed zone in the Parc des Princes in Paris.

The Spanish international confessed his desire that Xavi not comply with his announced intention to leave the club at the end of the season, a Barça that took an important step to advance in the ‘Champions’. “It’s one of the things we’ve improved on. Before they marked us and we went down very quickly. It wasn’t like that today,” he said.

“I always think that we are going to do our best and win every game. I didn’t imagine coming back like this in this game, but I’m very happy,” said Pedri who, in his first ball a minute after coming on from the bench, provided the assist for the 2nd -2 to Raphinha.

“I have had many injuries in that area but I am lucky that when I enter the field I don’t think much about it. The pass was with that leg. I don’t think about it. I try to have the best sensations to enjoy,” he added.

On the other hand, Pedri referred to the second leg against PSG next week. “It will be 90 minutes to the death, like today, in a one-on-one duel. But Barça is the best club in the world, we are returning to what we were before. We will try to win this competition again,” he concluded.
