New frightened of Freddy Adu

Barely a month of training has lasted Freddy Adu his new adventure. Last November it was reported that he had become engaged to Österlen FF, a club in the Swedish fourth division that was pulling him out of semi-retirement. Adu was without a team, training young talents in his country, but he agreed to join the Swedish team and try his luck again. His wandering seemed to have stopped and he took this as a last chance to rescue whatever football he might still have left. But just a month of training and the Swedish newspaper Sportbladet explains that Adu and Österlen FF part their ways.

His last known destination before had been Las Vegas Lights FC, a second-rank team in the American leagues. Sportbladet reports that Adu has starred in a new scare and will not continue in the Nordic club, although the team president does not fully confirm the news. “It may be that he made the decision today, but I cannot confirm it. It is true that he was very far from an adequate physical level for the time of the team,” he says Tom Ekström to Sportbladet. The club president emphasizes the lack of physical set-up and that Adu “has not succeeded in his last destinations”, giving clues to the outcome. He also assures that Adu “has never had a permanent position in the team.” The American played a part with the team last weekend and it seems that he could be the last.

Adu did his first training with the Österlen FF on January 18 and after him stated that he wanted to return the trust placed in him. “I have learned from my mistakes”, he assured in the presentation, after his first day of work. He had not trained at the highest level for two years. In the absence of official confirmation from the footballer, it appears that his one-year contract will be broken and he will leave Malmoë, where he is currently living.
