Silicius Majadahonda conquers the Iberdrola Rugby League

MADRID, 19 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Silicius Majadahonda has been proclaimed champion of the Iberdrola women’s rugby league for the second consecutive year after beating the CRAT Residencia Rialta (13-12) this Sunday in the final held in the Arcipreste Valley of Majadahonda (Madrid) the Madrid team to win all possible titles this season: Iberdrola League, Super Cup, RFER Cup and Iberian Cup.

The match started in favor of the locals, with a penalty shot passed between the sticks by Cristina López and a try by María Marín. However, on the brink of half-time, the Galicians got back into the game with a penalty try resulting from a powerful ‘touch-maul’.

Those from A Coruña dominated the static phases in a second half in which the defenses prevailed. On the verge of the end and with only four minutes left, CRAT Residencial Rialta managed to score through Icíar Pozo and take the lead for the first time, close to the title five years later.

However, the Madrid team forced a penalty shot just one minute from the end, which Cristina López passed between the sticks again to leave her team one point ahead on the scoreboard. In the last play, the A Coruña team tried a short center kick to force the recovery, but Majadahonda finally took control of the oval and took it out to become champion.
