From the Ravens’ Point of View: Which the Ravens Beat the Jaguars

The Ravens beat the Jaguars 23–7 on “Sunday Night Football,” and Lamar Jackson’s play made the news. The quarterback from Baltimore is now being talked about as a possible MVP.

That’s for a good reason. Many of Jackson’s plays were so amazing that they stunned viewers and left Jaguars players physically and emotionally defeated.

In the first half, the Jaguars stopped the Ravens from running the ball, allowing them to only gain 47 yards.

Things changed in the second half. 204 running yards were scored by Baltimore in the second half. The Ravens lead the entire NFL with 163.8 rushing yards per game, so that’s a huge amount.

Jackson threw Isaiah a deep ball The most important play of the game probably happened in the third quarter.

Baltimore’s first drive also had a number of long plays where Jackson bought ice before completing passes.

The offensive tackles for the Ravens should be praised for helping to make those long plays possible.

Tyler Linderbaum at center and Kevin Zeitler at right guard were great at copying defensive tackles while allowing Jackson more time.

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 23–7 on Sunday night to win a playoff spot. Lamar Jackson threw a touchdown pass and scored the play for the night when he avoided a sack or threw to Isaiah Likely near the goal line.

The Ravens (11-3) scored a touchdown, making it four wins in a row. They are now one win away from clinching the No. 1 seed and having the field to themselves all through the AFC playoffs.

The Jaguars (8-6) lost three games in a row, all of them against AFC North teams. They are now tied for first place in the AFC South with Nashville. A lot of Jacksonville’s problems were caused by mistakes they made themselves.

Trevor Lawrence lost the ball twice in the most recent loss, including a turnover in the final minute of the game that pretty much sealed Baltimore’s eighth win in its last nine games.

Keaton Mitchell, a potential rookie running back, hurt his left knee just before the fourth quarter and had to be taken out of the game right away.

On replays, his knee was bent in a weird way while he was running. When he rode off on a cart, he gave a thumbs-up sign.

Ronnie Staley, the starting left tackle, and Marcus Williams, the free safety, were also hurt and had to leave the Ravens. Even with the losses, Jackson, Edwards, Likely, and a great defense were able to win.

He threw for 171 yards and ran for 97 more. Seventy of those yards went to Likely. Mitchell had 73 before he got hurt, and Edwards scored 58 on the ground. The Ravens may have paid a high price for this one.

Lawrence threw for 264 yards, and his touchdown pass to Jamal Agnew from 65 yards out gave the Jaguars life after the first half ended with no points. But the Ravens came back with a play that didn’t make sense.

Jackson rolled to the right to avoid Dawuane Smoot’s sack and threw a pass that was easy for someone to catch near the goal line.

Most likely got the catch by getting past cornerback Darious Williams along with safety Andrew Wingard. After two plays, Edwards scored.

In the first half, the Jaguars had four chances to score, but they didn’t take any of them. They got 181 yards, which is the most of any team this season in the first half that didn’t score.

The Jaguars will be wary of Jackson, who won the 2019 NFL MVP award, and the Ravens’ attack, which has won seven of their last eight matches.

Jackson has made 252 out of 377 passes this season, gaining 2,934 yards. He also has 644 rushing yards, which is the most on the team.

He has a special bond in first-year Ravens receivers Zay Flowers (64 receptions, 673 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Odell Beckham Jr. (57 receptions, 505 yards, 3 touchdowns). He has scored 21 touchdowns in total (16 passing, 5 running).
