Málaga will start its fourth consecutive season in the Second Division with very different perspectives than he had with respect to his first season after the painful and embarrassing decline from Primera in 2017-18. The typical team was Munir; Clfu, Luis Hernández, Lombán, Diego González, Juankar; Adrián, Luis Muñoz, Keidi Bare; Juanpi and Sadiku. Lombán, Luis Muñoz, Benkhemassa, Gonzalo, Hicham, Ismael, Juande, Cristo, Ramón, Julio, Quintana and Larrubia remain. The last nine are subsidiaries.
The 20-21 campaign began with the judicial administration of José María Muñoz, which decreed a severe ERE to ensure the viability of the club. Many players came out and again with 18 professional chips, Malaga saved the category without trouble. Sergio Pellicer's eleven type was more or less the following: Dani Barrio; Ismael, Lombán, Juande, Matos; Jairo, Jozabed, Luis Muñoz, Ramón; Yanis and Caye Quintana.
