Florentino Pérez: “I don’t feel supported by Tebas, I feel harmed”

MADRID, 16 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, said on Thursday that he felt “harmed” by LaLiga despite the fact that Javier Tebas had recently denounced the renewal of Kylian Mbappé by PSG before UEFA, considering that the French were breaking financial ‘fair play’.

“I don’t know why he does it,” said Florentino Pérez about LaLiga’s complaint to UEFA. “Tebas does not support Real Madrid, I do not feel supported by Tebas, I feel harmed. We have a lawsuit with FC Barcelona and Athletic Club for an agreement that -in our opinion- is illegal. It is illegal for sure”, he pointed out. in statements to Mega’s ‘El Chiringuito de Jugones’ about CVC.

The head of Real Madrid pointed out that it is “illegal for two reasons”. “The first because it fails to comply with a decree law, which says that all clubs transfer our television rights to LaLiga for marketing and in three years. And there is no competition and it is not in three years. The rest of the clubs will have signed because they would need the money and after the pandemic it has been difficult,” he added.

“But we have to solve the problems within the law. We have always gotten along well until we understand that they want to expropriate our television rights for 50 years and we are going to go to the end in court,” said Florentino Pérez, who understands the decision of the FC Barcelona.

“Laporta has had great pressure to get into that CVC agreement, but Barça is a serious club and has denounced this and it will be difficult for him to enter, it would be absurd. They will surely come out ahead. In life there are better economic situations and worse, but Barça is one of the great clubs in the world, they have a value -what the connoisseurs say-, around 4,000 or 5,000 million euros, it is a solvent club and they have mechanisms to get ahead”, he asserted.

“And we all want that for the good of Spanish football,” added Florentino Pérez, who was surprised by LaLiga’s constant statements about the possible signings of the Blaugrana club. “In LaLiga they must be Barça’s sports directors because they condition it and put pressure on it. But it is a great club, direct competition in Spain and in the world they are the two best teams. It seems absurd to me that they are being pressured,” he said of the eternal rival.

In this sense, when asked about Atlético de Madrid, the white president said that “Gil Marín did what he thought he had to do” in relation to CVC and recalled that “this society exists no matter what they say” about the Super League. “They’re all in that 12 club.”

In addition, he also spoke about the famous banner put up by the fans at the Wanda Metropolitano. “A banner? I don’t know what banner and I’d rather you don’t tell me. And in the hallway, everyone has their customs, one does them and others don’t. If someone feels more comfortable, then they do it, and if not, I also respect them. It’s not a sin that they don’t do it to you,” he said.

“I relate to the president, for example this Saturday I was at a wedding at the same table as the president of Atlético. You can be a rival, but the relationship has improved in recent years. There is no non-aggression pact. If we wanted to sign We would talk to Joao Félix with the club and if they don’t want to sell him there, the story would end,” he said.

“THE SUPER LEAGUE IS ALIVE”

For his part, Florentino Pérez stated that “the Super League is alive”. “Right now there is a question in the Luxembourg Court, there will be a hearing shortly and they will rule on those questions that we have raised. We believe that we have the right within the European Union to organize competitions between us,” he said.

“Even with UEFA, but other types of competitions. UEFA is a monopoly, it is the regulator, the judge in this Europe of the 27 that we have built with good pillars, and one of them is that of the competition. We have never had fear that they would expel us from UEFA and with Ceferin there is normality. We greeted each other cordially, we disagreed and said that we wanted to talk to UEFA. An absurd situation occurred and we have to wait for what a court says, “he sentenced.

Regarding signings and renewals, Florentino Pérez said that they will try to “renew Vinicius as soon as possible.” “He says he’s not moving from Madrid, it’s normal because he’s happy here. He’s become a man. I think Vinicius is going to win the Ballon d’Or. Benzema this year and then him. Madrid is the right basket for great players. The same as for Rodrygo and Fede Valverde,” he added.

“Signings, few because there is no room. Three have left and three have come. The summer is very long and you don’t know what can happen. We have a consolidated team and we don’t want to disturb it too much (…) We have had a season to frame, a Champions League that we will remember all our lives. A series of conditions have to be given that have been given this year, young people and an atmosphere -what Ancelotti would say-, which has been a success”.

“Madrid’s players -in addition to being good professionals- are madridistas, and that shows on the pitch. Ancelotti knows how to treat all the players well, Pintus and his team are phenomenal, it’s been a year to frame. The combination between players young people, veterans and audiences has been impressive. That communion has occurred in an explosion, in the games everyone got up in the stadium except me, you stay seated while everything boiled and that has to be experienced, “he recalled.

“In none of them did I think we were out. How could we not come back? Against PSG we had 20 minutes left over. We always want to win the Champions League,” concluded Florentino Pérez, who confirmed that the new Santiago Bernabéu stadium will be finished “at the end of the next season.” “There have been price increases, we are solving problems and I’m sure Alejandro Sanz and many more will sing at the inauguration. There are many madridistas,” he concluded.
