Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham has been named the best player of the season in the Bundesliga this Monday, as announced by the competition itself for his “performances worthy of recognition”.
“At only 19 years old, Bellingham has been one of the leaders of Borussia Dortmund. After the Englishman was already part of the ‘Team of the Season’, the logical consequence now was that he was chosen ‘Player of the Season 2022/23 ‘”, advanced the statement, accompanied by a video with the most outstanding plays of the midfielder.
In his third year in the Bundesliga, the midfielder has made a “significant contribution”, according to the Bundesliga, for Dortmund to fight for the domestic title until the last day of the competition.
The international has played 31 games in the German League, 30 of them as a starter, with a total of 2,693 minutes on the pitch. Bellingham has only missed three games, against Mainz, due to suspension, and the last two games due to knee problems.
“He has leadership abilities beyond his years and has delivered performances worthy of recognition,” the Bundesliga said in its announcement about a footballer who scored eight goals and four assists this season.
In addition, he was the fourth player who won the most duels (482) with 57 percent. Bellingham finished the course with 92 total appearances in the Bundesliga, also becoming the youngest player to reach 100 games with Borussia Dortmund (19 years and 80 days). Among his achievements, he is also the youngest captain in the entity since 1995.
The English midfielder receives this prestigious award when there is information that links him to the Real Madrid project for the next season, through a transfer that would take place this summer.
