Bautista: “I really want to compete; I hope there will be an audience soon”

Roberto Bautista Agut, current player number 12 in the ATP ranking, will resume the official competition in New York, place where both the Western & Southern Open and the US Open will be held, successively.

The Castellón traveled to New York last Sunday to pass the relevant tests that ensure compliance with the regulations required by the USTA (American Tennis Federation), and ensure a COVID-19 free “bubble” for the next several weeks. Both the Western & Southern Open (Masters 1000), which has been moved from Cincinnati to New York, and the US Open (Grand Slam) will take place at the Flushing Meadows facilities and will be held without public attendance.

Roberto Bautista Agut will begin his participation in the first American tournament, where he starts as seed number 8, next Sunday (rival yet to be known). “They have been months of great uncertainty, andIt is very positive that the official calendar is resumed following the pertinent sanitary measures. Personally, I really wanted to compete again, and hopefully we can count on the support of the public in the stands soon, ”says the Castellón tennis player.

The last official tournament in which Roberto Bautista Agut participated was the ATP of Dubai, last February, just before the ATP calendar was suspended due to the pandemic caused by COVID-19.
