Ajax imposes logic against Midtjylland and is already second

There may have been surprise, but logic finally prevailed. Ajax fulfilled the script against Midtjylland (1-2) and left Herning with three points in his bag and second place in group D after Atalanta's defeat against leaders Liverpool. The goals of Anthony and Tadic were enough to beat the young Danish team, who played without complexes but lacked the necessary punch to achieve something more.

After traveling with the uncertainty caused by the coronavirus, Ajax was finally able to count on goalkeeper André Onana, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and forward Dusan Tadic to face Midtjylland.

The three, together with substitute goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg and the media Davy Klaassen and Zakaria Labyad, tested negative in a second Covid test and were starters in an Ajax that started showing efficiency in attack.

In fact, the first “ajacied” offense was rewarded. Ten Hag's team took the lead in the first minute of play thanks to a target from Brazilian Anthony, who took advantage of Midtjylland's defensive passivity.

Before the quarter of an hour, Tadic put the second after scoring an indirect free from the small Danish area caused by a loan. It was the perfect script for Ajax, however modest Midtjylland was not expected to put them on the spot.

Midtjylland, almost without strength, once again tried Onana's gloves with a long foul from Evander, but the Ajax goalkeeper did not hesitate and prevented the Nordic surprise.
