The health technology brand Zepp Health Corporation will honor the world marathon record holder, Kelvin Kiptum, who died on February 11 in a traffic accident, with the launch of the Amazfit Cheetah Pro watch that is presented on the occasion of the Rotterdam marathon.
Zeep Health Corporation also announced its partnership with the Kelvin Kiptum Foundation to preserve the legacy of Kelvin Kiptum, who was an Amazfit ambassador and used the Amazfit Cheetah Pro in his regular workouts.
This watch has been manufactured in a limited edition of 235 units, symbolizing Kiptum’s marathon world record of 2:00:35 and can be purchased at the Rotterdam Marathon Expo, where Kelvin Kiptum aspired to break the two-hour barrier.
The watch’s design commemorates Kiptum’s connection to Kenya, sporting the colors of its flag and its signature engraved with pride. The limited production represents Kiptum’s constant pursuit of excellence, and each unit will be a treasure for collectors and running enthusiasts.
Zepp Health, through its Amazfit brand, will donate $100,000 to the foundation, along with proceeds from sales of the newly introduced Amazfit Cheetah Pro Kelvin Kiptum Commemorative Edition smartwatch.
In addition to the launch of the watch, Amazfit becomes the official sponsor and timekeeper of the Rotterdam Marathon 2024, an event that held a special place in Kiptum’s heart. At the marathon exhibition, runners will be able to pay tribute to his memory through a commemorative wall and emotional stickers.
At the Rotterdam Marathon itself, Amazfit will further celebrate Kelvin’s legacy by presenting a special trophy to his family and retiring his number 1 bib. The finish line timer will also display Kelvin’s name when he reaches 1:59:59 , as a moving memory of his tireless pursuit of excellence.
