Zaragoza rebels against Barça and Coosur Betis comes out of relegation

MADRID, 16 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Casademont Zaragoza beat Barça (76-71) this Saturday to feed their chances of staying in the tight fight for the bottom of the Endesa League, the culé team neglecting its leadership, while Coosur Real Betis took the direct duel (76 -93) against MoraBanc Andorra on matchday 29 to get out of the relegation zone.

The team gave the bell in a game of agony that was decided in the last seconds, when 16 minutes from the end Calathes lost the ball with which Barça could equal or turn around a 73-71. Frankie Ferrari, a newcomer who acted as a true leader, and Mekowulu, scorer of 12 points in the last quarter, were decisive in Basket Zaragoza’s tenth victory.

Barça wanted to lead from the start but the local team had a lot at stake, with several teams from below awaiting Prince Felipe. Abrines, with seven triples and 26 points, monopolized the game of a Barça that has slept on its mattress, two defeats in a row, in the League as it did in the Euroleague, where this Tuesday begins its ‘playoff’ against Bayern Munich. Real Madrid, second, will try to take advantage of it.

The fight for salvation will continue to be hectic as it could not be otherwise, with good news also for Coosur Betis and Monbus Obradoiro. The Betis team came out of the relegation zone with its ninth victory, the third in a row, at the cost of a MoraBanc Andorra (76-93) new bottom team. Evans showed the way to the Betis.

The American base started with 11 points in the first quarter and went to 29, with seven triples and a PIR of 29. The success of three was general in the visitors (17/28) to assault the Principality in a dramatic and direct duel. Evans shared the game in the last quarter and Bertans and Báez finished the job.

Another direct match to bring the permanence closer was left to Obradoiro against a Burgos who did not know how to make their victory good during the week (77-82). Birutis, with 16 points, was the leader of a Galician team that had not won away from home since last October 23. The great game of Jarell Eddie and Benite was not enough for the Castilian team, which is now penultimate with nine wins, while the Galician team adds the tenth.

In addition, on Saturday, Joventut returned to the path of victory, after two defeats, at the expense of Urbas Fuenlabrada (92-75). ‘La Penya’, who is equal to Madrid in second place with 19 victories pending the Whites’ match, had an incredible second run of 35-18 that put him on the straight path to victory. Willis (18 points and a PIR of 22) was the best. The people of Madrid, with two consecutive defeats, remain at 10 wins without being able to forget the fight that is suffered from below.
