Yuri already missed the Super Cup and Yeray arrived just for the final

The physical condition of Yeray and Yuri has become one of Athletic's main concerns for the Cup final. Both withdrew injured from Anoeta. Both had muscle problems in the same leg as now months ago.

It is not the first time so far this season that both Yeray and Yuri have to stop due to discomfort in their right leg. The right-handed central defender suffered an injury at the end of December that prevented him from playing the San Mamés derby against Real, set for December 31, and forced him to stand still until the final of the Super Cup against Barça.

The medical report then issued by Athletic affected an injury “of a moderate nature in the internal calf muscle of the right leg. The availability of the footballer from this match (against Real at home) will depend on the evolution that he presents in the coming days “ Yeray did not compete again from December 31 to January 17.

Yuri, for his part, did not do well at all in his first match, the Three Kings' Day against Barça at San Mamés, under Marcelino's command. The left-handed winger had to be replaced in the middle of the game because of “a slight muscle injury located in the biceps femoris of the right leg”, the same one in which he noticed the puncture that forced him to be replaced last Wednesday in Anoeta .

The left defender had minutes days later in the Cup in Ibiza, but had to stop later because of that muscle problem during the Super Cup played in La Cartuja.

Athletic's recent visit to Anoeta resulted in the casualties of Yeray and Yuri. The medical report issued yesterday by the rojiblanco club in this regard sowed doubts that Marcelino could count on the participation of both in the Cup final on April 17 against Barça.

“Yeray and Yuri withdrew yesterday (Wednesday) in the league match against Real Sociedad with discomfort in the hamstring muscles of the right leg in both cases,” says the medical report issued by Athletic itself. The two defenders will possibly undergo further medical tests today that will more accurately determine the exact extent of their injury.
