New Zealand power forward Yannick Wetzell has signed this Friday for Bitci Baskonia to reinforce the painting of the Basque team for the remainder of the season and one more campaign, according to the Barça team in a statement.
“Bitci Baskonia will reinforce its interior game with the incorporation of the player Yannick Wetzell. The 25-year-old New Zealand interior player (Auckland, 1996) and 2.08 meters tall arrives at the Barça discipline with an agreement until the end of the season and the next 2022-23 campaign “The club confirmed.
The new Baskonia reinforcement will not occupy a non-EU position due to his status as a Cotonou player and will land in Vitoria after playing 22 games in the Australian league this season with the New Zealand Breakers. Wetzell has been the biggest benchmark for the Australian team, the team’s top scorer and rebounder with 17.7 points and 8.2 rebounds.
Wetzell, who will arrive in the capital of Alava in the next few hours to undergo the pertinent medical check-ups before starting work under Neven Spahija, will make his debut as a Barça player in the ACB after two seasons as a professional in the Australian league.
