Wu Lei stands out in the LaLiga solidarity auction for La Palma

First it was the Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, due to geographical and sentimental proximity. And, since last Friday, the idea took shape under the shelter of LaLiga. All the shirts that the First and Second players wore last day enter an auction which will last until November 3 and whose benefits will be administered by the town council of La Palma to help the affected by the volcanic eruption.

Interestingly, it is a Spanish footballer who at the close of the first week of auction, this Thursday, stood out among the higher tenders. Is about Wu Lei, a phenomenon in China – he twice won the Ballon d’Or in his country of origin – which is where the person comes from willing to pay 1,400 euros for the shirt that for a few minutes he played last Monday against Cádiz. For now, Only Barcelona striker Memphis Depay disputes that virtual leadership, coveted in bids from France and (naturally) the Netherlands. The next on the list are Frenkie from Barcelona. -That not Luuk- de Jong (1.165 euros) and Gerard Piqué (1.050).

With respect to his teammates from Espanyol, Wu Lei sprays all brands, since multiplies by ten the bidding of his most immediate pursuers: Sergi Darder (140 euros), Raúl de Tomás (139) and a surprising Loren Moron (116), since he has barely been in the parakeet club for a month and a half and has not enjoyed excessive prominence.

Along the lines of Wu Lei is another Asian footballer, the now Mallorcan player –although he was trained at Valencia– Kang-in Lee, for whose shirt was offered this Thursday from his native South Korea 825 euros. Too a Korean (or Korean), things of destiny, it has been up to now who has made the highest bid – specifically, 414 euros – for the elastic of Joaquín Sánchez, from Betis, who in the 2002 World Cup in those lands and against that team lived one of the most traumatic experiences of his vast sports career.

The Asian origin, in any case, is not synonymous with a high price, at least so far. Proves it the Japanese Gaku Shibasaki, from Leganés, for whose shirt 119 euros are paid from his country. And it remains to be seen what would happen to his compatriot Take Kubo, from Mallorca, who is not in the bid for being injured.

The Joaquín shirt that is being put out to tender is this, the Alavés-Betis shirt on Monday.

And, as with Memphis Depay, not everything is bidding from the East. For example, 500 euros that are bid for the shirt of Radamel Falcao, from Rayo Vallecano, arrive from the United States. That same amount is now set by Pablo Martín’s ‘Gavi’ –the fourth Barcelona player with the highest value– from Germany, or very close to there, from Austria, and 450 euros for that of Ivan Rakitic, from Sevilla, Croatian international although born in Switzerland.

In this relationship, which is managed by the specialized platform Match Worn Shirt, there are currently no footballers from Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid, Athletic de Bilbao and Granada, since their matches last day were postponed due to the difficulty that the internationals from member countries of the American CONMEBOL returned in time to dispute them. Time remains until Wednesday, November 3 for the bids to be updated and for the shirts to be awarded. Everything for La Palma.
