Tsitsipas warns: “2022 will be three times better than this year”

Stefanos Tsitsipas already looks optimistically to the 2022 season after a year 2021 in which, despite reaching the best ranking of his career after climbing to third place in August, and winning the title at the Monte Carlo Masters 1,000 and at the Lyon tournament, he ended up with a bittersweet taste from the elbow injury that caused him to drop out at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin.

In an interview with the Greek television station ANT1 Tsitsipas said that the recovery of the elbow is going well and is issuing a warning to sailors for next year. “My elbow is fantastic. I am sure that I will return to one hundred percent. The objective is definitely to continue growing. I hope that the preparation goes well and the new year will be three times better than this season.”

Despite the injury at the Nitto ATP Finals, Tsitsipas is satisfied with what he has achieved so far but hopes to take another step forward in 2022 after falling short of winning his first Grand Slam at Roland Garros. “In general I am happy where I am and I think I have to go one step further and try to climb higher next year. That requires new goals and also trying to improve as far as I’m concerned, trying to be more professional and working to find is one or five percent that can benefit me. And of course I’ll have my team to help me get that five percent I’m looking for. “
