Ten years ago, Vicente and Eva met again on a television show and discovered that the spark was still there. They resumed their relationship and faced together the most difficult moment of their lives: sepsis that the bullfighter suffered due to a knee replacement. The infection spread and led him to be admitted in critical condition to the ICU of the Valencia Clinical Hospital. Before entering the operating room for life or death, the couple said “I do” in the same medical center. “It was an atypical wedding, not the idea that I had, but it was a dream that he had and since he got sick it was something that he asked everyone who came in to please,” the bride said then. The wedding was officiated by Sergi Ruiz i Alonso, the mayor of Foios, the right-hander’s hometown, and was attended by his son Tito. However, the ceremony was invalidated when a head of the medical team said that Vicente was under the influence of medication. We tried to get married at the beginning of 2020 in the hospital, when I was very sick, but it couldn’t be,” he said then. The ceremony was civil, in a court in Valencia, where they reside, and with the presence of an exceptional witness: the bride’s father, the same one who denied Soro his daughter’s hand in the late 80s.
