This time, DE Armondo Blount is going back to Miami in Florida State.

It was another big change in Armondo Blount’s recruitment on Wednesday when he chose to sign with Miami after all. Miami’s class was placed ninth going into the initial signing period. Getting Blount back will make it stronger.

Blount, who is ranked No. 28 in the 2024 ESPN 300, had originally signed with Mario Cristobal or the Hurricanes on September 14.

However, on October 22, he changed his mind and changed his class to 2024 by committing to Mike Norvell and Florida State.

Blount, who is 6 feet 4 inches tall and 250 pounds, was ranked fourth nationally in the 2025 cycle before reclassifying.

In nine games this season for Miami Central High School in Florida, he had 58 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks.

Four players in the top 50 were signed by Cristobal and the Hurricanes: Blount, Joshisa Trader (No. 18 overall in 2024 and a five-star wide receiver), Justin Scott (No. 37), and Ny Carr (No. 46).

Cristobal and his team worked hard to follow up last season’s strong class (fifth in 2023) with another one. Blount (Florida State), Scott (Ohio State), Carr (Georgia), and Hayes (Florida) were all flips.

As the early signing process starts, Miami has made some progress. Florida State, on the other hand, hasn’t been able to do the same.

Also on Wednesday, linebacker Adarius Hayes (No. 78) chose to go to Coral Gables instead of signing with Florida.

Five-star defensive tackle Armondo Blount from Miami Central changed his mind and committed to UM instead of FSU on Wednesday.

This was the highlight of another great day for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes in terms of recruiting on the first day of the early signing period.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive end’s change of heart should get him into the top five of the Class of 2024, and Miami could have the best group of defensive tackles in the country.

Blount originally committed to Miami in September, but then switched his mind and committed to Florida State in October.

On Wednesday, after spending the weekend to Coral Gables for an official visit, he switched his mind back to the Hurricanes.

At first, Blount was going to go to Tallahassee for the last weekend before the early signing period. But at the last minute, he changed his mind, and Miami took him away from its biggest foe.

“It was just the hiring process.” It was enjoyable. I’m grateful that all of the teachers took the time to recruit me.

“Thank you so much at all of them,” Blount said. “I’ve always loved Miami. Even when I flipped, they didn’t leave.

Blount shared a picture of himself tossing up the U. on social media on Friday. His mother, Valentiauntrell Kennedy Blount, wrote on Saturday, “Let me make this real quick so we can get back to having fun.”

Armondo will not go to any other school, whether they are official or not. “See you all on December 20th,” the post said, tagging several teachers and assistant coaches, such as Cristobal and defence line coaches James Taylor and Joe Salave’a.

Blount finally changed his mind one last time on Wednesday, giving his word to Miami in a private event held in the Diversity Performing Arts Center in Lauderhill.

The Hurricanes quickly stated that Blount was one of their new recruits, saying that he had already signed this national letter of intent before the ceremony.

He changed his mind again, though, and this time it’s for good. Five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott, and she recently switched from Ohio State, is one of the Canes’ defensive line commits.

Other D-line commits include four-star edge Marquise Lightfoot, four-star guard Artavius Jones, four-star end Booker Pickett Jr., and four-star end Elias Rudolph.

Blount made 58 tackles, 11 sacks, four forced fumbles, two recovered fumbles, and 19 tackles for loss this season. MaxPreps says that he was a second-team All-American.

In his second year at Fort Lauderdale Dillard, Blount had 63 stops, 32 tackles for loss, and 17 sacks.

The Miami Herald named him to the first team of All-Broward County in both 2021 and 2022. As a rookie, he won a state title in the shot put.
