Total, 16 clubs that will be divided into four groups through a draw to take place in Nyon. The rest of the drums will be formed according to the coefficient of each club, being their extraction at random until the four groups are formed. It should be noted that clubs from the same federation cannot be included in the same group, so Barcelona and Real Madrid will not be able to cross in this round of the Champions League.

What's more, in the case of federations with two representatives, these clubs will be paired to distribute their matches between Tuesday and Wednesday or Wednesday and Thursday of each match week. In the case of federations with three representatives, only two clubs will be paired. The pairings are: Barcelona and Real Madrid; Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon; Bayern and Wolfsburg; Chelsea and Arsenal.

For their part, clubs from countries with severe winter conditions (Sweden, Iceland) they will be assigned a position in their group that allows them to play away from home on matchday six of the group stage.
