There is an alternative to Juan Luis Larrea

The elections to the presidency of the Guipuzcoan Football Federation still have no date, but as of next week they will have a first official candidacy that will be presented as an alternative to Juan
Luis
Larrea if the current president decides to run for reelection once again, which remains to be seen.

This alternative to Larrea It has been cooking for about nine months, trying to gather as much support as possible. It is made up of soccer people with very transversal profiles and with experience in management and, as MD has learned, the name of the candidate for the presidency is decided while waiting for this person, with a recognized trajectory in Gipuzkoan soccer, to resolve at the beginning of next week some fringes that allow him to have an exclusive dedication in the position.

According to sources from this candidacy, it has a “broad” support from the clubs in the province, among which would be “top-level teams from Gipuzkoa” eager to make an important turn in the management of the Guipuzcoan Federation.

This, however, is not the first time that an alternative to Juan
Luis
Larrea, director of the FGF with Joseph
Antonio
Arzak since 1981 and president since 1987. The most solid attempt to unseat him took place in 2008 and was led by the then president of Eibar, James
Barriuso, which ended up losing the vote by 57 votes to 51.

The final date of the elections should also be known soon because, according to the FGF statutes, before October 31 the assembly that elects the president must be constituted. Araba, for example, held its elections last July with the appointment of Kepa
Arrieta, while Bizkaia has already started an electoral process that will culminate on September 9 with the final vote.
