The RFET presents the Gijón Open this Wednesday at the City Hall

The event will be attended by Pablo Carreño and the mayor of the city, Ana González

The Gijón City Council hosts this Wednesday the official presentation of the Gijón Open, an ATP 250 category tournament that will be held from October 10 to 16, in an act that will be attended by the mayor of the city, Ana González; the president of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), Miguel Díaz; the tournament director, Tomás Carbonell; and the Asturian tennis player Pablo Carreño.

According to a statement from the Federation, the presentation event will take place in the Reception Hall of the Asturian city council, starting at 1:00 p.m.

The event will be attended by the mayor of Gijón, Ana González; accompanied by the president of the RFET, Miguel Díaz Román; the director of the Gijón Open, Tomás Carbonell; and the player Pablo Carreño.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Employment and Tourism, Santos Tejón, will also attend; the Councilor for Physical Activity and Sports, Ramón Tuero; the Managing Director of Gijón Business and Tourism Promotion, Luis A. Díaz Gutiérrez; and the president of the Tennis Federation of the Principality of Asturias, Fernando Castaño.

The ATP released updates to its 2022 season schedule on Thursday, following the cancellation of the China tour and the inclusion of six new one-year licensed tournaments, including one in Gijón on an indoor court. The tournament will be indoors between October 10 and 16, at the Palacio de Deportes de La Guía and, according to the RFET, local Pablo Carreño and Roberto Bautista from Castellón are the first confirmed players.
