The RFEF approves its Environmental and Social Sustainability Strategy until 2027

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has approved this Tuesday its Environmental and Social Sustainability Strategy, an action plan until 2027 with a series of strategic axes on which up to 12 actions will be developed, also in view of the World Cup candidacy 2030, according to a statement.

Approved in the General Assembly this Tuesday, this plan aims to mark the RFEF’s sustainability policies before the 2030 World Cup candidacy. With this horizon, the Department of Social Responsibility and Sustainability has prepared its 2023-2027 Sustainability Strategy, which addresses an in-depth analysis of the reality both at the federation and social and company levels in Spain, and with the support of UEFA and FIFA. In addition, to continue with the constant collaboration with the territorial soccer federations.

Thus, the RFEF is aligned with the work of the highest world organizations, in line with the United Nations and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and establishes sustainability policies for the 2030 World Cup bid. climate change, the reduction and compensation of emissions, non-discrimination and inclusion policies and solidarity and human rights, according to the statement.

The strategy until 2027 seeks to make the RFEF “one of the reference federations in Europe in terms of social impact in the coming years and extend this strategy to all territorial federations”. For this, the plan defines a series of strategic axes on which up to 12 actions will be developed that correspond to the indicated priorities.

Among them, several are marked with high priority, such as the control and monitoring of the consumption of water, energy and natural gas in all the activity of the RFEF; promote the efficient use of water and ensure its long-term availability; the measurement, reduction and compensation of the carbon footprint; adaptation to climate change; o Disseminate the sustainability project internally and externally through its communication.
