The fire in the 14-story building in the Campanar neighborhood in Valencia, which broke out on February 22 at around half past five in the afternoon, has left four people dead according to the emergency services. As of early this Friday, the figures are provisional due to the impossibility of accessing the interior of the building at the moment. Between 9 and 15 people remain unaccounted for by their families. The King's House has sent a message after what happened.
“Following with concern the evolution of the fire in 2 buildings in Valencia,” the institution wrote from X, the old Twitter, after 9:30 p.m. this Thursday. “Maximum support to the emergency services working to extinguish the fire, best wishes for recovery to the injured and that there are no more victims,” they noted. This Friday morning, firefighters continue to cool down the property, made up of two joined blocks of homes, to be able to access it. In addition to the fatalities and those missing, there are 15 injured people who are not in danger. The four fatalities were confirmed by the Deputy Director General of Emergencies, Jorge Suárez, in a midnight appearance before the media from the command post next to the buildings that were still burning.
