The CTA transfers to Integrity the words of David López accusing Ortiz Arias of insulting him

MADRID, 30 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) transferred this Monday to the Integrity department of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) the statements of the Girona central defender David López, who accused the referee Miguel Ángel Ortiz Arias of “disrespecting” and insulting to the players in the LaLiga EA Sports 2023-2024 match against Almería on October 22, according to a statement.

“The CTA has transferred to the Integrity Department of the RFEF the statements that David López Silva, Girona FC player, made during the break of the First Division match that pitted his club against UD Almería, on October 22, in those who accused the match official of disrespecting and insulting him,” the entity announced.

The Girona player accused Ortiz Arias at half-time of the match against Almería, corresponding to matchday 10, of “disrespecting” and insulting the players, something with which “all First Division players will agree.” You can’t work like that, it’s very difficult, it’s difficult to focus on the game. He disrespects you, he insults you, it is difficult to work like this, the work is complicated,” he said in statements to DAZN.

López recounted what he said was something suffered by all his teammates in Primera. “The referee, Miguel Ángel, I mean, the First Division players know him, but it is an issue that is more human than professional,” he stated.

Then, the CTA publicly announced that the audios of the match “contradicted what was stated by the Girona CF player and made them available to both the player and the club itself”, inviting both to “public rectification”.

However, the committee reported that the Girona entity “refused” to listen to the audios “despite the offers of the CTA” and regretted that David López had not “rectified” his statements, so his accusations have been transferred to the Integrity Department of the RFEF.
