Santi Mina’s defense says that “never” has pressured Celta

The lawyers of the footballer Santi Mina showed their surprise on Monday at Celta de Vigo’s response to the player’s request to join “immediately” to training, since, according to his defense, he has limited himself “to fulfilling his work obligations” after the 15 days of extra vacation that the striker was granted, separated from the team after being sentenced to four years in prison for a crime of sexual abuse.

“Santi Mina has never pressured the club in no way nor has he demanded absolutely anything, either verbally or in writing”, explain the lawyers in a letter to which the Efe Agency has had access, where they add that both parties have been “in permanent contact” from the first moment and they have been “promptly informed of each step”.

RC Celta de Vigo has reported today that it has received an official communication from the footballer Santi Mina, convicted of sexual abuse, through a burofax, in which he demands that the club immediately join the team's training sessions.

“The information that has been published today by Celta does not fit the truth because the player has limited himself to complying with the obligations and instructions of the club in relation to his employment situation”, they reiterate.

In this sense, they advance that it was the entity that presides Carlos Mourino who, “in view of a sentence that today is not final but that they understood affected them in the public opinion”, imposed on the player on June 8 “a sanction of six days of suspension of employment and salary, not one more, not one less.”

In addition, they add, on July 1 from Celta they also communicated “in writing” to the player that he had an “extension” of his vacation “for 15 more days” being exempt from having to attend the medical tests as well as the training of the first team.
