Pepe Reina will be from Valencia if Cillessen leaves

Valencia have already chosen the replacement of Jasper Cillessen in case the Dutch goalkeeper leaves Mestalla. The club has a closed agreement with Pepe Reina so that it lands in the capital of the Turia. To finalize the arrival of the Spanish goal, Valencia needs to get rid of Cillessen, one of the highest earning players on the squad.

The club estimates that the Dutchman costs him about 11 million euros a year, between salary and amortization. Valencia considers that it would save a good pinch if it is able to transfer Cillessen, since the entity continues immersed in its fight to reduce the cost of the workforce after not qualifying for the Champions League.

The departure of Cillessen seems complicated, due to his high record and because right now he has not had any firm suitor. Only Ajax has been interested in a shy way. Meanwhile, Reina is the man chosen to land in Mestalla. The Madrilenian, with great experience, finished the course on loan at Aston Villa. Reina has one more year of contract with Milan, but his departure from the Italian club would not be a problem.

It was no secret, the black and white managers took care of it, that the transfer market it was going to be more than complicated for the Valencia Football Club. Without Champions and attacked by the COVID-19 crisis, the need to sell is capital. Such is the situation that today the Mestalla entity has operations paralyzed with several footballers who had already been transmitted a high interest in having them. Economically there can be no incorporations without players continuing to come out before, but the dates are advancing, the return of LaLiga is closer and closer and the club still cannot sign.

Footballers like Femenia, Deulofeu or Yangel Herrera, who at the time bet on Valencia, they are still waiting. The dates pass and this leads to other teams have already shown availability in having them, something that the Turia club cannot do today. Clear example is case 'Yangel' to whom Granada has already communicated that if he wishes, he can return on loan at Los Cármenes.

The amount that Valencia can invest in signings today is very low, to the point that it is only 3.4 million euros per year between salary and amortization. Such amount leaves the club with a margin of maneuver very small until there are sales, however Michelangelo Corona continues to work in search of footballers who adhere to such criteria. And Pepe Reina fits the bill.
