Malaga closes a difficult season with an inconsequential victory against Castellón

Málaga concluded a very difficult season with a clear victory against a decimated Castellón, already relegated, and in this way cut a seven-game winless streak, which means they finish twelfth with 53 points.

The Malaga team, who could not fire their coach, Sergio Pellicer, who will not continue but was not on the bench due to being sanctioned, was the only one that existed in the first minutes against an opaque and sad Castellón, who defended the spoils of the tie as he could before the Malaguistas onslaught.

Málaga had two occasions in the first eight minutes, one by Franco-Algerian midfielder Yanis Rahmani and another by right winger Jairo Samperio, who made goalkeeper Campos be crowned with interventions of great merit.

The locals, after the brilliant start, lowered the rhythm and Castellón began to print more rhythm and equalize the forces and there was even a goal, finally annulled for offside by striker Juan Ortuño.

When the Castellón team was better, a great pass from midfielder Cristian Rodríguez, after an error from the rear, allowed forward Caye Quintana to beat Campos under.

The second half had little impact, with more presence of Malaga in the opposite field looking for the goal of the sentence, which did not come due to the lack of definition of players like Rahmani or Caye Quintana.

It had to be the newcomer to the field, the Serbian striker Stefan Scepovic, who took advantage of a great combination between Cristian Rodríguez and Joaquín Muñoz, to leave Málaga practically sentenced, in the 65th minute.

The last moments were very placid for Malaga, who even scored again for an insistent Scepovic, who was trying to earn himself by continuing at the Malaga club next season.

3-0, permanence achieved and the day of many farewells to loaned players who end their contract and, the most painful, that of coach Sergio Pellicer, who will leave the Malaguista bench.
