Luis Rubiales, the only candidate for the Presidency of the RFEF

Luis Rubiales has been proclaimed today candidate for the Presidency of the Royal Spanish Football Federation by the Electoral Commission. Rubiales has presented more than one hundred guarantees of the elected members of the General Assembly, of which a hundred have been validated “the minimum necessary is 21”.

Being the the only applicant who has presented sufficient guarantees, will also be the sole candidate in the General Assembly called for next September 21, in which both the president and the members of the Delegate Commission will be elected for the period 2020-2024.

On the other hand, this afternoon the Management Committee of the RFEF met to analyze various issues. The meeting was chaired by Miquel Bestard (president of the Football Federation of the Balearic Islands) who is the new president of the Management Commission of the Royal Spanish Football Federation until the elections to the Presidency of the Federation that will take place on September 21.

Bestard is the new president of the Management Committee as Luis Rubiales has to leave office in application of current regulations to present his candidacy for the Presidency of the RFEF.

The general Assembly for the election of the president and the Delegate Committee was convened yesterday as provided in the electoral calendar and It will be held on Monday, September 21, at 12:00 in the first call and at 12:30 in the second, in the Luis Aragonés auditorium of the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas (Madrid).
