Jürgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, revealed this Tuesday (in the press conference prior to this Wednesday’s game against Liverpool) how he experienced the defeat of Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City last Saturday by 2-3.
Klopp explained: “The truth is that I was on my way home when Tottenham was winning 1-2 and when I got there I didn’t follow him. There was Tottenham and then I got home and I didn’t follow him anymore because I was sure (City) were going to equalize. Then we got out and the driver was really excited and told me it was 2-2 then 3-2 so I thought City had won. But it was Tottenham. My reaction was ‘oh’.”

But, for Klopp, “nothing changes for us, we have to win all our games, especially focused on the one we will play against City; we must win them all, because City will do it.” Liverpool will visit the Etihad on April 9 in a decisive match to decide who will win the Premier. If they beat Leeds this Wednesday, the ‘red’ team will be 3 points behind Pep Guardiola’s team.
Klopp praised Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds. “Although he is missing such important players as Patrick Bamford, [Liam] Cooper and (Kalvin) Phillips, I know that Leeds can do a lot of damage to their rival. But I am confident that, with the help of our fans, we will be very difficult to beat.”
The Liverpool coach made it clear that “I am not thinking about the final” of the English League Cup, the Caraao Cup, this Sunday against Chelsea, “because if there is something clear to me, it is that I cannot have two or three games in the mind”.
Klopp confirmed the losses of Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota against Leeds and said they are doubtful for the final. “I could say they won’t play Chelsea, it would be the easiest thing for me to say, but they are struggling to recover.” Finally, the German assured that he liked “Joe Gomez’s performance” as a right back against Norwich and that the English defender has had to go through very difficult times.
