Joventut continues on a roll and UCAM extends the downturn in Gran Canaria

MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Joventut beat Monbus Obradoiro (74-91) in their fifth consecutive victory in the Endesa League, within a matchday 12 that also left a new setback for Gran Canaria this Saturday, beaten by a UCAM Murcia that wants to resurface (99-85 ).

The ‘Penya’ was intractable on their visit to Fontes do Sar, with Ante Tomic once again leading with 15 points and a PIR of 23, to chain a fifth win. With a 7-27 in the first quarter, the Galician team lost their options in 10 minutes.

Those from Badalona are 8-4, settled in the high zone and looking at the fight for the ‘Top 4’. Meanwhile, Gran Canaria (7-5) continues to fall with its third defeat in a row, this time because of a UCAM Murcia team that is looking to change its streak this season. Sito Alonso’s men unloaded their scoring potential in the first and third quarters.

Radovic (28 PIR), McFadden (21 points) and Diop (11 points and 6 rebounds) gave the locals dominance at the Murcian Palace, to get closer to the zone of access to the Copa del Rey. In the same way, Surne Bilbao Basket (7-5) and Río Breogán (6-6), eighth and ninth, added for the ‘Top 8’.

The Basque team left a choral performance on their visit to the Nou Congost, with five players in double digits in valuation and another four in scoring, to topple (76-86) bottom club BAXI Manresa. Smith (16 points) and Withey (17 PIR) were the standouts in a Bilbao team that avenged last week’s defeat at home against Obradoiro.

Río Breogán beat Real Betis (84-89) despite Evans’ 30 points and 8 assists for the Andalusians. The Momirov-Happ couple (20 PIR each) weighed more for the victory of those from Lugo, who do not want to get off the train to the Badalona Cup.
