Ja Morant says goodbye to the season

MADRID, 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American player of the Memphis Grizzlies Ja Morant will miss the remainder of the NBA season after suffering a subluxation in his right shoulder last weekend, for which he must undergo surgery.

“In practice on Saturday, Morant suffered a subluxation of his right shoulder. Following continued pain and instability, he underwent an MRI that revealed an underlying labral tear. Morant will undergo season-ending surgery and is expected to fully recover before the 2024-25 season,” the 'Grizz' entity highlighted in a statement.

This loss is very bad news for the Memphis Grizzlies who, after recovering Morant from his 25-game suspension for carrying a firearm for the second time, lose their key piece again. With the arrival of the guard, the team's progress was ascending, with other key players contributing such as Jarren Jackson Jr, Desmond Bane or Santi Aldama from the second line, but now the situation is critical again.

Despite having two consecutive victories, the loss of the 24-year-old player does not bode well for the franchise this season, where it is currently thirteenth in the Western Conference, very far from the 'Play-in' positions. Morant averaged 25.1 points after playing in just nine games.

In addition to Morant's loss, as reported by the Grizzlies, Gran Canaria power forward Santi Aldama suffers a knee contusion and could be a doubt in the next game against Luka Doncic's Dallas Mavericks along with another important player like Jarren Jackson Jr.
