How many eighth teams have not won the Champions League

Nine of the 16 teams who will play the eighth of the Champions League (whose draw is held this Monday) have been European champions and at least twice. At the top, Real Madrid with 13 and then with 6 each, Liverpool and Bayern.

The rest of the teams included in the hype this Monday, led by PSG today led by Leo Messi and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, have not yet achieved it. Among those who have not, one, Atlético, has been champion three times. City and PSG have lost Final paths, those of 2021 (against Chelsea the ‘citizens’ and against Bayern PSG).

Among the teams classified as seeds have won the Champions League:

Real Madrid: 13 (1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1966, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018)

Liverpool: 6 (1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005, 2019)

Bayern: 6 (1974, 1975, 1976, 2001, 2013, 2020)

Ajax: 4: (1971, 1972, 1973, 1995)

Manchester United: 3 (1968, 1999, 2008)

Juventus: 2 (1985, 1996)

Not won: Manchester City (once runner-up, 2021) and Lille

Teams classified as second in the group that have won the Champions League:

Inter: 3 (1964, 1965, 2010)

Benfica: 2 (1961, 1962)

Chelsea: 2 (2012, 2021)

They have not won it: Atlético (3 times runner-up, 1974, 2014, 2016), PSG (once runner-up, 2020), Villarreal, Salzburg, Sporting de Portugal
