Espanyol: after 525 days the men's and women's teams win

This weekend, with the victory of the men's Espanyol against Alcorcón (1-0) and that of the Women's in Madrid (0-1), a disastrous statistic that had been chasing the blue and white during the 2019-20 season was broken, without doubt the worst sporting year in the club's history. It has been 525 days since the last two teams achieved a victory on the same weekend. A data that reflects the superiority of Espanyol in LaLiga SmartBank and the good regeneration established in the women.

It has rained since the weekend of May 4 and 5, 2019. The men's Espanyol, whose goal of entering Europe as seventh was a chimera with three days remaining, skinned Atlético de Madrid 3-0 , with a great collective performance and the dazzling of Adrià Pedrosa. That victory was the first of a streak of three culminating in the tremendous May 19 at Cornellà and that 2-0 at Real Sociedad.

The day after the match against Atlético, the Femenino closed their season with a 2-1 victory against Sporting de Huelva. That campaign was already a warning for the girls of Salvador Jaspe, who were saved but suffering and with a change of coach. 525 days later he wins a game in the League again, at a time in which the men's team has managed to win nine, five of them in the First Division and four in the Second Division.

In the entire previous season, both teams only won those five men's team matches in LaLiga, a number that has already been matched as of October 11. A year that, at least, will be more comforting for a fan that still cannot access the sports venues. At least, his first teams give joys after the horrible previous course.
