Cross on the forehead and high fives: the peculiar greeting between Infanta Elena and Don Juan Carlos goes viral on networks

The Bourbon conclave that took place this Wednesday for the 60th birthday of the Infanta Elena has left us an endearing image, a true perfectly scripted demonstration of unity and harmony to silence rumors of crisis within the Royal Family. The icing on the cake with which they closed the meeting was the farewell between the protagonist of the day and her father, the emeritus, which is already spreading like wildfire on social networks.

The connection and complicity between Don Juan Carlos and their first-born daughter and this Wednesday they wanted to immortalize her in front of the photographers with a chain of gestures more typical of colleagues than of father and daughter. After the formal genuflection of Doña Elena to the emeritus, both drew a cross on their foreheads (a symbol of blessing and protection) and then shook hands, grabbed each other with a twist of the wrist and patted each other's shoulders. In networks they have already dubbed it Don Juan Carlos's “cool greeting.”

The emeritus flew to Madrid this Wednesday, from Geneva, to attend the party organized by his daughter Elena in a well-known restaurant in the center of the capital. The infanta has managed to bring together practically the entire core of the family (except Miguel Urdangarin and the sisters Leonor and Sofía), as well as uncles (infanta Margarita and Irene de Grecia) and cousins (María Zurita or Simoneta Gómez Acebo).
