Bautista surpasses his debut on the grass in Halle and Carballés says goodbye

MADRID, 20 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Roberto Bautista surpassed his debut at the Halle (Germany) tournament on Tuesday, scoring for the ATP and which is played on grass, while his compatriot Roberto Carballés was eliminated.

The player from Castellón, who starts as the eighth seed of the event, did not give too many options to the Italian Andrea Vavassori, graced by his status as ‘lucky loser’ and whom he comfortably beat in two sets 6-3, 6-4 to meet in the second round with the American Brandon Nakashima.

Bautista was very solid with his serve and did not concede any break chances to his opponent, only losing six points on serve. Even so, Vavassori held on and only gave way because of separate ‘breaks’ in the final stages of each set.

For his part, Roberto Carballés could not accompany him after losing to the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor in two sets 6-2, 7-5 in a match where the player from Tenerife could not with his rival’s serve, although he speeded up his options having forced a third and final sleeve.
