Barça signs Joao Mendes, Ronaldinho’s son, for Juvenil

BARCELONA, 2 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona made official this Thursday the hiring of Brazilian footballer Joao Mendes, who just turned 18 and son of former Blaugrana footballer Ronaldinho, who will join the ‘culer’ football base in the Youth category.

“The player Joao Mendes has signed, in the presence of the director Joan Soler and the director of youth football José Ramon Alexanco, his incorporation to FC Barcelona in the youth stage,” the club announced.

Ronaldinho advanced this signing of his son by FC Barcelona a few days ago. In fact, the Brazilian star participated last weekend, during his stay in Barcelona alongside his son, in the Kings League of ex-Blaugrana Gerard Piqué.

After going through the club’s offices accompanied by the president, Joan Laporta, in full negotiations, Ronaldinho’s son finally signed a contract after passing the tests he has been subjected to in the last month.

Joao Mendes, who just turned 18 last February, was without a team after his previous stint in the lower categories of Cruzeiro. He will now try to follow in the footsteps of his father, who was a ‘culer’ between 2003 and 2008 and was the architect of the improvement of the team and the club in coincidence with Laporta’s first stage in office.
