MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Australia and Italy broke world records, women’s and men’s, in the 4×50 medley relay at the short course World Championships being held in Melbourne (Australia).

The Australian team, with their third relay gold, edged out the United States at the start of the fifth night of competition. Mollie O’Callaghan (25.49), Chelsea Hodges (29.11), Emma McKeon (24.43) and Madison Wilson (23.32) signed a new record of 1:42.35, three hundredths better than the record held by the Americans since 2018.

Meanwhile, the men’s 4×50 test left another world record in the hands of Italy, who added a new gold to the win in the 4×100. Lorenzo Mora (22.65), Nicolo Martinenghi (24.95), Matteo Rivolta (21.60) and Leonardo Deplano (20.52) set the new record in 1:29.72, lowering their own record from last year.
