Atlético reached 900 doors to zero against Mallorca

Last Friday Atlético beat Mallorca 3-0 leaving the goal to zero for the fifteenth time in League so far this year. One more encounter without fitting that became the 900 of the red and white history with a zero on the opponent's scoreboard.

Since that duel from March 24, 1929 between Atlético, back then Athletic de Madrid, against Racing Santander, with a 4-0 local victory, the rojiblanco team has been adding games to zero until reaching 900 in 2,724 matches (33.04%). A record for which the Slovenian Jan Oblak is very much to blame, who since reaching Atlético in the summer of 2015 has achieved leave the goal to zero in 103 league games of the 187 he has played.

Oblak himself was in charge of reaching goal to zero 800 number on September 19, 2015 in the 0-2 victory against Eibar. Less than five years apart between 800 and 900, when seven had been needed for the previous hundred (0-0 against Osasuna on November 9, 2008). In Atlético's 900 unbeaten matches in the League, it has had a balance of 718 wins and 182 goalless draws. A facet that has been greatly reinforced since Simeone's arrival on the bench, with six Zamora awards in seven full seasons with the coach (four from Oblak and two from Courtois) where it has become a hallmark to see Atlético leaving the goal to zero.
