Andújar falls to Goffin, Carballés’ rival in quarters from Marrakech

MADRID, 7 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish tennis player Pablo Andújar fell this Thursday in a tight match against the Belgian David Goffin, who achieved victory number 300 of his career to access the quarterfinals of the tournament in Marrakech (Morocco), where he will face another Spaniard, Roberto Carballés , who advanced beating the Portuguese Joao Sousa.

The man from Cuenca suffered a comeback (5-7, 7-6(4), 6-3) from Goffin in his second match this week on Moroccan soil, a tournament in which he is a three-time champion and a finalist in the last edition, in 2019. The Belgian reached the third set more fully, where he saved the three ‘break’ balls he had against to achieve that round figure.

The former number seven in the world achieved his victory 300, 11 years after the first, and a ticket to the quarterfinals after almost three hours of meeting. Carballés will be his rival now, who left a great performance (6-2, 7-6 (4)) against a feisty Sousa.
